Back to the reality of modern times with a bump in 15,000 Kids And Counting (C4, Thu, 9pm), which comes at a time when child protection levels in Britain are at a record high.
The 15,000 refers to the number of children waiting to be adopted last year, twice as many as five years ago (on average, one child is taken into care every 20 minutes).
Following the entire adoption process, this new series follows social workers, foster carers, birth parents, and adopters as heart-wrenchingly difficult decisions are made about the future of some of Britain’s most vulnerable children.
The process begins with the most difficult decision of all – to remove a child from their birth family. We meet the social workers who make the shout – and the parents desperately fighting to keep their children.
