Councils admit putting kids into care due to obesity concerns
OBESITY was a factor in social services intervening to help children at risk.
Scottish Borders has placed between one and four children in care between 2014 and 2016, where concerns about obesity or high BMI were a factor, according to a Freedom of Information response. It said it could not disclose exact figures due to the risk of identification.
South Lanarkshire also cited risks of children being identified if it gave out information about children being taken into care or put on the child protection register where obesity was a factor.
