Obese children should be separated from parents, experts say. What do you make of this?

We know that it is better for many children that they are not placed in foster care.

Parents of extremely obese children are at risk losing custody of their child(ren)  if they are unable to regulate their child’s weight.  According to some specialists, they should.  Dr. David Ludwig, obesity specialist of Harvard-affiliated Children’s Hospital Boston, expressed his view in a recent opinion piece in the Journal of the American Medical Association.  Dr. Ludwig’s  advocates removing severely obese children from their homes and placing them temporarily in foster care in order to begin getting their weight under control.  He emphasized that it would be done solely in the best interest of the children, and not as any sort of punitive measure toward parents.  Read More>>>

The best interest of the children and child State intervention is being used in an arbitrary fashion,  in many instances causes more harm than good.  Furthermore it will be a nice little earner for the psychology department

Should parents lose custody of super obese children? 

“No, they just need educating.  There are children in real danger that get overlooked and then there are children that are taken away from  good mothers for no apparent reason.  Shame on the system for all the mistakes they will keep on making.”

Hopefully many people will now ask questions and keep an eye on this matter, the issue will be about the re-education of parents.  In some cases the child may be obese, because they have a genetic condition.
